Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated freestyle skier Hanna Huskova who won a gold medal and biathlete Darya Domracheva on a silver medal at the Olympic Games in PyeongChang.
You did it, ladies!
Anna Guskova was awarded Honored Master of Sport of Belarus title and the Order of Fatherland 3rd Class.
Shortly after the athletes’ successful performances the press service of the Belarusian leader published the messages of greetings:
“Defending the sports honor of the country, you have given the moments of pure joy to Belarusian people.
We have been watching your bright and selfless performance hearts aflutter.
You have won the first long-awaited gold of the Olympic Games in PyeongChang for Belarus.”
In a statement to Darya Domracheva, who claimed a silver medal in biathlon mass start, the president couldn’t restrain his joy.
“Dear Darya, we have been rooting for you so much and hoped for a good performance at the biathlon track in PyeongChang.
By displaying extraordinary psychological strength, you have performed very well in the mass start race and won a silver medal at the Olympics.
Thank you for this victory. I am convinced that our girls can also show good results in the relay. Good luck!”
It’s the 5th medal for Darya! She won 3 gold medals in Sochi-2014 and a bronze medal in Vancouver-2010.
The head of state remarked the athletes outstanding skills and the high level of the Belarusian freestyle skiing school.
