The cost of charging an electric car in Belarus has been announced by the press service of the Belarusian Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry.
It will become available as from 1 May thia year.
The preferential rate will be as low as BYN 0.15693 (without VAT) per 1kWh.
The cost s 48% down from the general electricity rate paid by Belarusian companies working in the sphere of services.
The rate for electricity is applied to legal entities and individual entrepreneurs who provide services for charging electric vehicles.
It will be adjusted bearing in mind changes of the Belarusian ruble’s exchange rate against the U.S. dollar.
The preferential rate is close to the electricity rate Belarusian households pay if they have to fully cover the economically justified cost of electricity generation.
At present, the market of electric vehicles is quite promising and fast-growing.
With a view to its further development in the country the decision to offer lower electricity rate was taken, the agency reports.
It is expected that more electricity generated by local power plants, including the BelNPP, will be consumed and less imported oil will be used.
Belarusian citizens can either charge their electric cars at home or use charging stations of corporations and self-employed businessmen.
The government will regulate only the preferential electricity rate.
The commercial entities may add a profit margin on top of it bearing in mind the market situation and the costs associated with providing electric car charging as a service.
