Belarus and China signed a number of documents, that make export of Belarusian frozen beef and chicken to China possible, TUT.BY wrote on 10 July.
In particular, Minister of Agriculture Leonid Zayac and Chinese Minister of Quality Control, Inspection and Quarantine Zhi Shupin signed a protocol regulating the requirements for the export of frozen beef from Belarus to China.
The sides also signed a memorandum on mutual cooperation in ensuring security for import and export of food products.
Deliveries may start in a couple of weeks.
At present 36 Belarusian enterprises are certified to export milk by China, 21 enterprises can deliver meat and five more – chicken meat, officials said.
The Chinese official remarked that the quick signing had become possible due to close strategic ties between the two countries.
Belarus is the largest exporter of beef among post-Soviet countries, supplying more than 135 thousand tons per year.
The country ranks 7th in the global list of frozen beef meat exporters. Last year, Belarusian meat was supplied to 10 countries.
