NAVIBAND will represent Belarus at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, that will be held in Kiev, Ukraine on 13 May.
Belarus chose NAVI to represent them at the contest in the expanded national final on Friday, 20 January. The results were made up from the votes of a professional jury (50 %) and televoting (50 %).
Thirteen acts, selected by the jury from a total of 67 entries, were competing for the trip to Kiev. Compared to last year, there was an increase in the number of participants.
This was a second time NAVI competed in the national final. Last year they ended 4th.
In their second attempt the duo competed with a fast and catchy folk song called Historyja majho žyccia (‘The story of my life’).
The performance was full of national elements and was actually the only song in the Belarusian language in the final.
For Belarus this will be 14th attempt to conquer Eurovision. Since 2004 the country has made it to the final four times. The highest place ever won by Belarus was in 2007 with Dmitry Koldun and the entry “Work Your Magic”.
