Belarusian State University (BSU) rose 20 positions up to 334th place in the updated list of the world’s top universities QS World University Rankings 2017/18.
It is the highest position BSU has ever reached in the history of its participation in international rankings.
A year ago the university ranked 354th. In 2015 BSU got into the 421-430 group.
Another Belarusian university in the rating is Belarusian National Technical University, which is included in the group of universities ranked from 751st to 800th.
The QS World University Rankings rating by the British rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds is considered one of the three leading rankings of the world’s top universities.
It takes into account the quantitative data on the higher education institution and the surveys of independent experts. Such indicators as the results of the experts’ survey (academic reputation), the employer reputation, citations of scientific works for the last 5 years, the ratio of professors and students, the number of foreign students and teachers are considered as well.
The top 10 includes five American, four British universities and one university from Switzerland. World’s best are the traditional trio of theMassachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University and Harvard University.
Among the neighboring capitals, Lomonosov Moscow State University takes the 95th place, Saint Petersburg State University is 240th. The University of Tartu is placed 314th, while Vilnius University scores in the 401-410 group.
The University of Warsaw and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv both rank in the 411-420 group.
