Belarus Ranks 81st In World’s Healthiest Nations Ranking

Spain is the healthiest country in the world, according to a study of 169 nations by Bloomberg. Meanwhile, Belarus was ranked 81st.

Belarus’ neighbours Ukraine and Russia took 93rd and 95th place accordingly. Recall that according to the Numbeo ranking, Belarus surpassed Russia and Ukraine in the quality of life.

The Bloomberg Healthiest Country Index took into account multiple factors, including life expectancy, smoking rates, obesity, sanitation, and access to clean water.

Six of the top 10 countries were in Europe, Italy slipped to the 2nd spot, Iceland 3rd, Switzerland 5th, Sweden 6th and Norway 9th.

France was 12th, Britain 19th, Portugal 22nd, Germany 23rd and Belgium 28th. Japan, which ranks fourth globally, is the healthiest nation in Asia.

Experts say the eating habits of the Mediterranean diet may provide clues for why Spain and Italy enjoy such good health. This heart-healthy diet is rich in fruits, vegetables, fish and whole grains, along with healthy fats.
