Belarus Ballet Departs On Christmas Tour To Germany And Austria

The ballet company of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus is setting off on a tour to Germany and Austria, the media report.

“This is the sixth time Belarusian artists will tour these countries during the Christmas and New Year holidays”, Yury Troyan, the art director of the ballet company and People’s Artist of Belarus, said.


The tour will last from 9 December 2016 to 18 January 2017. Belarusian dancers will perform Tchaikovsky’s legendary ballets Swan Lake and The Nutcracker in the largest theaters in Bonn and Bremen, Hamburg and Cologne, Berlin and Hanover, Munich and Dortmund, Salzburg and Vienna.

“The fact that we have been invited again says a lot. It means the European audience loves us”, the ballet’s art director believes.


Meanwhile, opera singers from all over the world will gather in Belarus on 7-13 December for the 3rd Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition. The competition will feature over 200 young singers from Belarus, Georgia, Canada, Lithuania, United States, France, China, Israel, Sweden, Korea and other countries.

The competition will be followed by the 7th Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum with opera stars from all around the world on 14-20 December.
