Belarus has approached the last day of the Olympic medals with two new medals. Bronze awards were won by Ibrahim Saidov in wrestling and women’s kayak four.
Heavyweight wrestler Ibrahim Saidov bagged bronze in men’s freestyle wrestling by leveling with Levan Berianidze of Armenia 2-2 and won on criteria. He brough Belarus 9th medal of the Olympics.
This is the third award of Belarusian wrestlers at 2016 Summer Olympics. Belarus has not won so much in the discipline since the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996.
Earlier that day women’s kayak four claimed bronze in 500m distance. The quartet consisting of Nadezhda Liapeshka, Maryna Litvinchuk, Volha Khudzenka and Margarita Makhneva showed the final result of 1:33.908 following Germany and Hungary.
The final standings in the discipline was exactly the same as at 2012 last Olympic Games in London.
These victories have put Belarus on 40th place in medal standings before the last day of the Olympics. Team Belarus won 1 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals in Rio.
