Over 3000 women took part in the Beauty Run, female-only race, in Minsk on 8 March. The event was timed to the International Women’s Day.
Too much beauty!
The main street of Minsk, praspiekt Niezaliežnasci, was closed for traffic as women and girls of all ages ran through the city centre.
Participants of the race covered 2 kilometers or 5 kilometers distance. And although the weather was not really great, the smiles on the faces of the runners, cheerings from their supporters created the festive atmosphere.
All runners received medals and flowers at the finish line. The winners were awarded money prizes and presents from sponsors.
Those who showed their imagination and came to the run wearing the most unusual costumes also got gifts from the organizers.
The run promotes health and encourages an active lifestyle. It is also a part of the campaign to combat domestic violence in Belarus.
This year the event gathered the record number of participants.
The International Women’s Day run was joined by famous Belarusian sportswomen – Tatiana Shabanova, the silver medalist of the European Junior Championships, and Ekaterina Korneenko, the master of sports and winner of many championships of Belarus.
