Azarenka Starts Slowly But Confidently At Wimbledon

Former World No 1 Victoria Azarenka returned at Wimbledon with a 3:6, 6:2, 6:1 win over American teenager Catherine Bellis on Monday.

The Belarusian, who is back after giving birth to her son, had a shaky start.

Victoria went down 4-0 in the first set with 18-year-old Bellis acting very confidently.

But the 27-year-old Azarenka broke back to 4-1, and that was beginning of the turnaround.

Victoria finally found her game, which was reflected in the second set. Azarenko was acting confidently, making fewer mistakes and won 6:2.

In the final set on Monday, she started to get back to her best, losing only five points in the opening four games of the decider. She got broken in the fifth game, but she broke back and then served it out for a spot in the second round.

Azarenka will next face Russian Elena Vesnina on Wednesday. The 15th-seeded Russian reached the Wimbledon semifinals last year.

On Monday, the Belarusian was playing for only the third time since giving birth in December. She has previously held two games at Mallorca Open, one of them victorious and the other one not.
