Victoria Azarenka, the former world number one hasn’t competed since Wimbledon and will miss next weekend’s Belarus’ Fed Cup against the USA campions.
And the reason is really heartbreaking!
The 28-year-old continues to battle with her ex-boyfriend Billy McKeague for custody of her baby son Leo.
Azarenka had to skip the US Open in August this year after a custody judge ruled the boy could not leave California.
Expectedly, the new mom doesn’t wish to travel without her 10-month old son while his future is being decided.
In a statement after her US Open withdrawal: “I look forward to hopefully having positive developments soon so that his difficult situation can be resolved and I can get back to competing.
No parent should have to decide between their child and their career.”
The devoted mom keeps training in California and spending quality time with little Leo.

“Victoria will be unable to come to play for the reasons that everybody knows.
It’s a pity but we just can’t change anything right now,” Belarus team skipper Eduard Dubrov explained the situation.
Meanwhile, Belarus will rely on world number 78 Aryna Sabalenka, aged 19, to lead the country’s rather young team.
Among other sportswomen are world number 87 Aliaksandra Sasnovich, world number 130 Vera Lapko and doubles specialist Lidziya Marozava.
