The average wage in Belarus went up by 84 rubles in December 2016 in comparison with November and amounted to 801.6 rubles, according to the National Statistics Committee.
This was the first increase after the drop that continued for three months in a row.

The average salary in December was equivalent to 408 US dollars. In November it was at $370.
Compared with 2015, there was no increase of wages in dollar terms – Belarusians earned on average $412 in December 2015.
In Minsk average earnings rose for the first time in the last six months, reaching 1 151.8 Belarusian rubles in December as compared to 1 008,7 rubles in November.
It should be noted that in December 2015 the average wages in Belarus also rose sharply, but in January 2016 they returned to the previous level.
In November the President of Belarus instructed the Government to return the average wage to $500 in 2017 on condition of the corresponding growth of labor productivity. Later, the Minister of Economy Vladimir Zinovsky claimed that the salary of $500 is “an extremely difficult task”. However, the program of socio-economic development for 2017-2020 does not mention $500.
