Another SURPRISE Medal For Belarus In IBU World Cup Biathlon

A day after Darya Yurkevich stunned fans with a 3rd place in 15 km individual race, Vladimir Chepelin won his first-ever World Cup podium in men 20K individual on Thursday.

The Belarusian biathlete finished the race third with 1:24.3 back from the winner Martin Fourcade and only one penalty.

Chepelin, who was 50th after the first  shooting, moved into third after the final standing stage, and held it although several others challenged.

Germany’s Florian Graf looked like the man who could keep Chepelin off the podium, with three clean stages but he missed his 20th shot and finished eighth.

Teammate Darya Yurkevich’s third place on Wednesday motivated Chepelin, biathlonworld.com writes: “I was watching Darya yesterday, I was inspired by her result and knew that clean shooting would make the podium possible.”
