Belarusian tennis player Vera Lapko won the ITF tournament in Landisville (USA) with a $25 thousand prize fund.
The Belarusian overcame Anna Karolina Shmidlova from Slovakia with a 4: 6, 6: 4, 7: 6 score.
The final match turned out to be tense. In the first set, Vera Lapko lost to the opponent with a 6:4 score. However, the Belarusian athlete won the next game with the reverse score.
The outcome of the final was decided during a tie-break in the third set. As a result, Vera Lapko overcame Anna Karolina Shmidlova in two sets – 4: 6, 6: 4, 7: 6 (4) – and won the title. The match lasted 2 hours and 12 minutes.
This victory allows 18-year-old Vera Lapko to enter the top 200 of the world’s tennis players for the first time.
It is the third victory in the professional career of Vera Lapko in singles matches. She also won two other tournaments – in Sharm el-Sheikh (2015) and Astana (2016) with a $10 thousand prize fund.
In 2016 Vera Lapko became the winner in the singles category at the junior Australian Open.
